Wedgewood Pharmacy now compounds Doxycycline Quad tabs

Wedgewood Pharmacy is now compounding Doxycycline (as hyclate) with natural chicken flavor in its proprietary Quad tabs™ dosage form. They are available in 100mg, 200mg and 300mg strengths. Quad tabs tablets are scored twice for maximum flexibility in dispensing and dosing, providing up to four doses from each tablet. They are one of the company’s DeliverEase® dosage forms that help owners to give—and pets to take—the medicines they need.

Jodi Donohue, veterinary health product manager at Wedgewood Pharmacy, said: “As a compounding pharmacy, we continuously look for solutions that help veterinarians meet the needs of their patients and their staff. Doxycycline Quad tabs are tasty, convenient and address a real need of veterinarians and their clients.”

According to Barbara Forney, VMD, Doxycycline is used in dogs, horses and cats. She noted, that it “is used in dogs to treat susceptible bacterial infections” caused by a variety of bacteria, including Lyme disease. The Companion Animal Parasite Council (CAPC) reports that 1 out of 16 dogs (6.06%) in the U.S. tested positive for Lyme disease. 

Wedgewood Pharmacy also compounds Doxycycline in a variety of traditional and DeliverEase dosage-forms including capsulesoral oil-suspension and chew treats for small animals and Medi-Mint™ tabletsoral granules and oral paste for horses.
