Wedgewood Pharmacy has submitted 25 pages of "practical" comments on the devastating impact that FDA's Draft Guidance for Industry #256: Compounding Animal Drugs from Bulk Drug Substances would have on access, cost, and quality of compounded medications for animal use. In the introduction, the letter notes that"... we strongly believe that the FDA does not have the legal authority to regulate veterinary compounding" and that "it is state boards of pharmacy, not FDA, that can best consider these issues and address them, consistent with the realities of veterinary and pharmacy practice—and with the needs of animal patients and their owners—within their borders."
