Vinay Bhatt has joined Wedgewood Pharmacy as vice president, Quality and
Compliance reporting to Joe Costa, president and chief operating officer. In
this role, Vinay will lead the quality control, quality assurance, and
pharmacist teams across the Wedgewood Pharmacy enterprise, working closely with
the leadership team to develop and execute the corporate strategy, goals, and
objectives.
Vinay will oversee quality systems and ensure overall compliance with current
applicable quality standards; lead development of a quality culture that
supports the company’s values of customer focus, integrity, collaboration, and
innovation, while meeting the needs of the company’s stakeholders, including
regulators; and lead the pharmacist organization, including the
pharmacists-in-charge, to ensure that regulatory requirements and quality
expectations are met.
Vinay joins the company with deep knowledge and expertise in quality,
compliance, regulatory, and research and development. Most recently, he was the
head of Quality for Viatris, Inc., a global pharmaceutical and healthcare
company, where he was responsible for site quality operations and quality
management systems.
Prior to Viatris, he was vice president, Quality and Regulatory Affairs for
Leading Pharma, LLC, a privately owned generic pharmaceutical company that
purchases, licenses, develops, manufactures, and distributes generic drugs.
Before joining Leading Pharma LLC, he held a variety of positions of increasing
responsibility, including head of Global Quality and Compliance, for Zydus
Pharmaceuticals (USA), Inc., the U.S. generic drug division of Zydus Cadila
Healthcare based in India.
In previous positions, for Schering-Plough Corporation he was director,
Validation/Technical Services; and held the same title for Apotex, Inc., a
Canadian pharmaceutical company. He was chief editor of the
GMP Compliance, Productivity and Quality: Achieving Synergy in Healthcare
Manufacturing book.
Vinay holds both a B.S. degree in Chemistry and an M.S. degree in Organic
Chemistry with specialization in synthetic drugs from V.N. South Gujarat
University, Surat, India. He completed his Ph.D. degree in Applied Chemistry
from M.S. University of Baroda in Baroda, India.
